The former city clerk of Masonville will spend just under two years in prison for taking thousands of dollars from the city. Forty-two-year-old Christine King of Strawbery Point admitted to routinely issuing herself fake payroll and expense checks while working as the Masonville City Clerk.

She admitted to doctoring the books to inflate the balances in the city bank accounts to cover up the money she took from 2002 through 2011. King pled guilty to one count of mail fraud. She was sentenced to 21 months in prison and ordered to pay $11,000 for the state audit of the books, $82,000 in restitution to the city, and $10,000 to an insurance company.
