The police chief of a small northeast Iowa town is being questioned about misused city funds. Dunkerton Police Chief Tim Schultz was placed on suspension following a closed-door meeting of the town’s City Council last night.

The council says that Schultz could return to duty pending the results of an investigation, though Mayor Edward Jessen declined to say what type of investigation would be taking place. The move came following the public comment portion of the council meeting, where a former council member asked about the alleged misuse of a city credit card. Schultz was at the meeting, but declined to comment.

In his absence, officer Robert Roquet will serve as the interim chief.
