Police have identified the victims of a fatal car crash on Interstate 80 in central Iowa. The crash happened at 8:40 Wednesday morning near the Jordan Creek Parkway ramps in West Des Moines.

Witnesses reported the vehicle involved in the crash had been driving erratically before leaving the eastbound lanes, entering the median, and striking a pedestrian bridge. The driver, 59-year-old Frederick Charles Ernest III of North Dakota, was killed. A passenger, 62-year-old Terry Alan Passmore of Pennsylvania, was badly injured but is expected to make a full recovery.

An autopsy is planned to help investigators determine what may’ve led to the crash.
