A Des Moines woman was killed last night when she was struck by a van while crossing a street on the city’s northwest side. Des Moines Police Sergeant Jason Halifax says 26-year-old Logan Volz of Clive was driving the van that hit 57-year-old Cynthia Moore at the intersection of 40th Street and Hickman Road.
Halifax says it doesn’t appear excessive speed or alcohol were factors in the collision. It happened shortly before 9 p.m. Moore was taken to a hospital where she later died from her injuries. Volz and several witnesses were interviewed by police. “Possible charges will be determined pending the completion of the investigation, likely to take another day or two,” Halifax said.
