A lottery ticket sold in northern Iowa is a $2 million winner. Iowa Lottery spokesperson Mary Neubauer says the winning Powerball ticket for last night’s drawing was purchased at a Casey’s store in Osage.

“Whoever bought the winning ticket matched the first five numbers but missed the Powerball to win a million dollar prize initially, but the person added the Power, which multiplies any prize you win,” Neubauer said. “In the case of the million dollar prize, it turns it into $2 million.” No one has yet to come forward with the winning ticket.

The person or persons who’ve struck it rich in Osage will join other big winners this year from Johnston, Urbandale, and West Des Moines. “This is the fourth ticket purchased in Iowa to win at least $1 million this year and it’s the second just this month,” Neubauer said.

She’s advising the holder of the winning ticket to sign it immediately. “You put your name on the back of the ticket and it identifies the ticket as belonging to you, so if something were to happen to the ticket, if would have your name on it and be a little more protected,” Neubauer said. The individual holding the winning ticket must take it to Iowa Lottery headquarters in Des Moines to claim the prize. It was one of two tickets nationwide that won a $2 million prize in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing.

The numbers drawn were 17-24-26-45-46, with the Powerball number being 19. Nobody won the jackpot in last night’s drawing, so the big prize will go up to an estimated $90 million for Saturday’s drawing.
