A Cedar Rapids man who admitted to robbing an eastern Iowa bank will spend more than three years in federal prison. Police arrested 51-year-old Robert Melton in January shortly after a witness identified him as the man who robbed the Solon State Bank in Ely.

Melton pled guilty in May to one count of bank robbery and admitted to entering the bank and giving the teller a note demanding money. He was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 46 months in prison and three years of probation once his sentence is up.
