The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is teaming up with area service agencies to host an open house in the Sioux City area for veterans in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota today and tomorrow.

VA public affairs officer Will Ackerman says the event will feature lots of resources for any interested veterans. Ackerman says, “The goal is to be a one-stop shop for veterans and their families to learn about the benefits that they may be eligible for or to get questions answered.” Military transition assistance advisors will be on-hand to help veterans sign up for a string of VA benefits.

“We encourage them to bringng their DD Form 214, which is their document which proves the time they were in service and their level of discharge,” he says. The open house is being held at American Legion VFW Post 307 in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
