A man from Belmond was killed Sunday afternoon when the pickup truck he was driving collided with a train near Eagle Grove. The victim is identified as 33-year-old Jesse Froelich.

Reportedly, a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup operated by Froelich was traveling south on Wright County Road R-33 when he drove around the north side crossing gates into the path of an eastbound Union Pacific train at 240th Street. It was reported that all advance emergency warning equipment at the railroad crossing was operational at the time of the collision.

Froelich was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The accident remains under investigation.
