The Iowa State Cyclones will get a few more days to savor Saturday’s 20-17 victory at Iowa. The Cyclones are off until they host Baylor on September 27th and coach Paul Rhoads says it will be a light week of practice. They will practice 3 days beginning today and the coaches will be out recruiting at the end of the week.

Rhoads says the off week comes at a perfect time. “It’s an ideal time to back off our guys and rest them a little bit and let them get their legs back and let them get their minds back and then begins a four-week, four-game stretch that will be important to our season,” Rhoads says.

Rhoads says the Cyclones have made huge strides the first three weeks and that is why getting the win on Saturday was big. He says the adversity that they have faced and not getting the win in the second game, and then getting the victory was “unbelievably important to our football team.”

The Cyclones will make a national television appearance against Baylor. The game will be carried on Fox with a 7:20 kickoff.

Cyclone kicker Cole Netten is the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week. His 42 yard field goal with two seconds remaining was the game winner against the Hawkeyes. Senior defensive end Cory Morrisey is the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after registering seven tackles, including two sacks.
