Former Oelwein mayor Jason Manus has pleaded not guilty to sexually abusing two young girls. The 36-year-old Manus appeared in Fayette County District court Wednesday morning, to answer to five counts of sexual abuse involving two girls, ages 9 and 14, in incidents that happened four years ago at his home in Oelwein
After Manus was initially arrested last month and released on bond, he resigned as Oelwein’s mayor. A special election to fill his seat is set for next month. Manus’ trial was set for October 8th, with a pre-trial conference scheduled for September 29th.
