A man was shot and killed by police last night in Davenport.  The person  who  initially called 911 said the man was waving around guns, threatening to shoot himself and may have wanted to die by police fire.

Negotiators tried to talk the man into surrendering but the standoff ended after about three hours. Police say the man came out of his garage, irrational and agitated, with a gun in one hand and another in his waistband and threatened police.

At least four officers opened fire. All four are on paid leave, pending completion of the investigation by the Scott County Sheriff’s office and the state DCI.  The shooting victim has not yet been identified.
