Authorities say the suspect in a Cedar Rapids shooting who was mistakenly released from jail is back in custody. Eighteen-year-old Brandon Gordon, of Marion, surrendered himself at the Linn County Jail last night.

Gordon is accused of attempted murder in the shooting of 18-year-old Kirsten Meyer outside a gas station last Friday. Police believe Gordon was shooting at a 19-year-old man in the car, but hit Meyer instead. She is expected to recover. Gordon was released from jail, before seeing a judge, less than 24 hours after the shooting.

The Linn County Sheriff has blamed a computer software error that has since been corrected.
