Two of the favorites in class 2A district three collide on Friday night when sixth ranked Center Point-Urbana hosts number seven New Hampton. Center Point is 4-0 and much of the reason is a defense that has generated 16 turnovers.

Stormin’ Pointers coach Dan Burke says they didn’t know if they would be 4-0, but they have progressed quickly and he likes the way it is going. The Chickasaws provide a difficult challenge as he says the offense gets off the ball and is tenancious and they run their schemes very well. The two teams played last year in the first round of the playoffs, so Burke says they know what they are getting into.

Burke says while it is a big game it is one the players need to keep in perspective. “This isn’t the state championship game here, it’s just a very important district game right in the middle of the season,” Burke says. He says he doesn’t want the team to be tense, and so far during this homecoming week they haven’t been.
