Two of the unbeatens in class 2A district two collede as top ranked Clear Lake visits Clarion-Goldfield. Clear Lake coach Fred Wieck says he’s surprised that Clarion is this good. He says they will pack you in and run power football at you.

Wieck says the defense has been a big part of their 4-0 start.

Clarion-Goldfield coach Paul Hansch says this will be a tough challenge for his team. He says Clear Lake is just good and they have a lot of kids back from last year. Hansch says the speed of the Lions defense is one thing that stands out. Nansch says to slow down the Clear Lake offense you just have to be better than them that night when you play.

Class A top ranked Maquoketa Valley is on the road to take on Lisbon. Both teams are 2-0 in district five and Maquoketa Valley coach Wes Wilson says he has great respect for the Lisbon program and coach Kent Allison.

Maquoketa Valley is top ranked for the first time since 1989 but Wilson says that is not their ultimate goal. “We try not to talk about it, it’s kind of what we’ve done in the past, why we are ranked now,” Wilson says. He says they don’t talk about the rankings, but they do have some high goals they want to achieve this season.
