A Davenport traffic accident has taken two lives. It happened a little after 2 Sunday morning at a central city intersection. Police say a car driven by 24-year-old Kai Miller of Davenport broadsided another car at the intersection, killing the driver instantly. One passenger in the car Miller struck died later at a hospital and another was seriously hurt.

Names have not yet been released. Police are investigating. But based on physical evidence from the scene and multiple witness statements, they say Miller’ s excessive speed and alcohol consumption are believed to be the main contributing factors to the crash.

Miller was treated at a hospital and released. He is in jail, charged with homicide by vehicle, serious injury by vehicle and first offense operating while intoxicated.
