One person was killed, another hurt, in a car-versus-semi crash in Greene County. Twenty-six-year-old Shannon Poole of Boone was pronounced dead at the scene Tuesday after the car she was driving collided head-on with a semi driven by 55-year-old Kenneth Ricke of Arcadia.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Poole’s car crossed the center line on Highway 30 and struck the semi east of Grand Junction. A passenger in Poole’s car, 23-year old Shane Swett, was taken to the Greene County Medical Center. He was wearing his seatbelt according to authorities, and there’s no update on his condition.

The semi driver, Ricke, was not injured. The accident caused Highway 30 to be closed down for several hours Tuesday. The accident investigation will be completed by the Iowa State Patrol.
