An eastern Iowa community is considering a plan to bar all dogs from city parks. Dog owners are not picking up after their dogs in city parks, so Durant officials are considering banning Fido from their parks because of the complaints they’re getting.

The Durant City Council is expected to vote tonight on the ban. The Muscatine Journal reports that one resident, Linda Oertel, has objected to the proposed ban, which would fine violators $50 for the first offense, $100 for the second offense and $200 thereafter.
