The quarterfinal round of the state high school football playoffs. In 3A, third ranked Sioux City Heelan will be at home against Webster City. Heelan coach Roger Jansen says the Crusader defense has been preparing for Webster City’s single win spinner back offense and he says it’s tough to get ready as you never see it in other teams.

Heelan opened the playoffs with a 35-0 win over Spencer.

The class 3A sixth-ranked West Delaware Hawks are 9-1 and continue play at home with a top ten match-up with another 9-1 squad in the 2nd-ranked Solon Spartans. Hawks head coach Doug Winkowitsch and his staff expected the Spartans as their opponent again this postseason and talks about how similar both teams are.

The Spartans have won 7 games in a row, while the Hawks are undefeated at home this season.

The top-ranked class A 10-0 Maquoketa Valley Wildcats are at home again tonight as well taking on 6-4 Denver. Maquoketa Valley coach Wes Wilson says all four of Denver’s losses are to teams who are still playing in the playoffs. He says they are thrilled to be playing at home with the community rallying around them.
