An overnight fire in Mahaska County in southeast Iowa has left one person missing. Firefighters from seven different agencies were dispatched to a house fire in Taintor around 6:45 pm Thursday evening. Firefighters found the home fully engulfed upon arrival.

According to Mahaska County Emergency Management Coordinator Jamey Robinson, one person escaped the house fire while one person who was reported to still be in the house during the fire is missing. A condition on the person who escaped was not available. The state fire marshal’s office has been notified and is assisting authorities.
