Partially harvested corn field in northwest Iowa. The harvest season is slowly coming to an end. The cold weather that froze muddy ground and helped farmers make progress two weeks ago hampered farmers from continuing the harvest this last week.

The U.S.D.A. crop report shows 96-percent of the corn crop is in, that’s equal to last year and two days ahead of the 5-year average. Farmers in south-central Iowa continue to be having the most trouble getting the crops in as the harvest there is reported at only 85 percent complete.

The soybean harvest is reported at 99-percent complete.
