A Spirit Lake man has been appointed to the Iowa District Export Council, part of a national non-profit organization that seeks to boost U.S. exports. Paul Katzfey is the vice president of international sales at BrownMed, a medical device manufacturer, and he found out about the appointment this fall.

“(It’s) a real good organization that helps at the grassroots level, really, helping out businesses that are involved with or are interested in expanding their export sales,” Katzfey says.

Katzfey is now one of 1,500 people nationwide who are part of the National District Export Council. BrownMed, where Katzfey works, is a family-owned business that makes and sells more than 90 medical devices worldwide.
