Leading by 24 points early in the second half at TCU the Iowa State women fell apart against pressure defense in an 86-84 loss. The winning basket was scored with just over a second remaining as TCU scored 65 points in the second half. “They made everything they looked at, it was incredible how many shots they were making. Obviously, our defense was nonexistent,”

ISU coach Bill Fennelly said.

The Cyclones committed 16 turnovers in the second half. Fennelly says there is not excuse for that many turnovers and he says they need to play better defense. He says the game got “ridiculously physical” in the second half and they didn’t handle it.

Chelsea Prince provided the game winner foe TCU with one point six seconds remaining. “There’s no way to put it into words, its embarrassing and I take full responsibility for it,” Fennelly says.

ISU is now 1-1 in Big 12 play and 10-3 overall.
