A 76-year-old woman from northern Iowa died and her 77-year-old husband was hospitalized after the couple apparently got disoriented in blizzard conditions late last week.

Tragedy struck the Woden area in northern Iowa during the blizzard last Thursday as Hancock County Sheriffs Deputies were sent out to search for a couple reported missing in the storm. James and Lilah Hobbs apparently drove into a ditch, then tried to find their way home by walking. Lilah was found dead on the shoulder of a gravel roadway overcome by the storm. Fire officials used a thermal imager to locate James who was sent to the hospital. Officials are not commenting on his condition.
