The really good Iowa basketball team showed up in Lincoln on Sunday and Nebraska had no chance. The Hawkeyes raced away to a 42-16 halftime lead and cruised to a 74-46 win. Aaron White scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Iowa took control early by racing out to an 18-5 lead. “This crowd was ready to explode and we kind of just took them out from the beginning, which was big for us,” White says.

Iowa improves to 5-3 on the road this season, including 4-3 in Big Ten play. After back to back losses to Minnesota and Northwestern the Hawks bounced back with two solid efforts. “Basketball is an up and down sport, you are going to have good weeks, you are going to have bad weeks, you are going to have good games, you are going to have bad games and the biggest thing is to stay even keeled, stay confident in your ability and stay positive,” White says.

Nebraska connected on just 32 percent for the game, including two of 18 from three point range. “Defensively I thought from the opening tip they were locked in…we just played with a really good pace I think for the entire 40 minutes,” Iowa coach Fran McCaffery says.

Iowa is 8-6 in the Big Ten and 17-10 overall.
