Ambulance-Back-DoorA four-year-old boy who was reported missing at Crystal Lake on Friday afternoon and was later pulled out of the lake has died. Joel Nedved of Crystal Lake died Saturday night at a hospital in Rochester.

Joel, his father Jeremy and their dog were playing at Crystal Lake State Park on Friday afternoon. Authorities say the boy was last seen on shore at about 2:00 P.M. Rescue workers and searchers had been searching the edge of the park and in the open water on the southeast side of the park. The boy was discovered at around 5 o’clock late Friday afternoon in the water about 100 feet from shore.

The lake still has considerable ice cover, but has large areas of open water. The boy had been taken to the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, and then flown to the Mayo Clinic hospitals in Rochester.
