A livestock health company from the other side of the planet is setting up shop in north-central Iowa. A New Zealand animal medicine firm announced Thursday their plans to purchase the Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica Riverside plant in Fort Dodge.

Officials with ARGENTA said the firm will take ownership of the facility in July and begin producing its own products in January, 2016. Boehringer Ingelheim will continue to make its products through the end of this year.

The purchase price of the Fort Dodge plant was not announced. ARGENTA will do business as AML Riverside. The company initially employ 10 people with the goal of increasing the employment number of 30. The company will produce a line of livestock medicine at the Fort Dodge plant.
