Crime-sceneThe weekend death of a southwest Iowa man is now officially classified as a homicide.

Just before noon on Saturday, Kathy Pafford of Nodaway called 911 and told the Adams County Sheriff’s Office her son was dead. Authorities went to Nodaway and found 44-year-old Allen Pafford’s body outside his mother’s house. Pafford lived in Villisca and sometimes stayed with his mother.

An associate state medical examiner conducted an autopsy on the man Monday and ruled his death was a homicide, but authorities have not released other details, like how Pafford died, when he died or who may be a suspect. According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety, “officials believe this is an isolated incident and there is no reason to believe the public is in any danger.”
