The PGA Tour returns to the Quad Cities later this week for the John Deere Classic. This week’s field will include golf’s newest superstar Jordan Spieth. The 2013 winner of the JDC is halfway to a “Grand Slam” with wins at the Masters and U.S. Open.

“It wasn’t just about 2013, we gave him a spot in 2012 when he was still just and amateur, just a college student. That I am sure had something to do with his feelings about us,” according to tournament director Clair Peterson.

He says winning the tournament in 2013 was a huge boost for Spieth’s career as it changed his professional life as he saw a lot of positives that improved his stature on the tour.

The first round of the tournament is on Thursday.
