Cascade is headed to the state softball tournament for the second time in school history. The Cougars topped Denver 7-0 in a class 2A regional final. It is a big step for a program that made its only trip to the state tournament back in 1994.

Cascade coach Ken Weber who credits hard work in the off season for making it possible. “That’s where it starts is the offseason, a lot of kids went to a lot of open gyms getting prepared. But the biggest thing with these girls is they are fighters,” Weber says. He says they won a lot of close games throughout the season.

Junior pitcher Lynsey Dolphin tossed a four-hitter and walked none to earn the win. Dolphin says she knew the defense was behind her and she just kept hitting her spots.

Cascade will take on fifth ranked North Union next Tuesday night in the class 2A quarterfinals.
