GavelA Des Moines man received the same sentence the second time around in the abuse that led to the death of his son. Twenty-six-year-old Jonas Neiderbach was found guilty of 6 counts of child endangerment for injuries suffered by his then 7-week-old son Ethan in 2009, and was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

The Iowa Supreme Court vacated 2 of the 6 counts against him in 2013, and also ruled the district court erred when it did not let Neiderbach’s lawyer review the mental health records of the baby’s mother.

Neiderbach was resentenced today to 50 years in prison on the 4 counts. The child’s mother is currently serving a 20-year sentence for child endangerment. Ethan Neiderbach died in 2014.
