Police car lightsA fugitive wanted in connection with a Marshall County false imprisonment and drug case is now in custody in Story County. Ames Police arrested 27-year-old Chad Bryant on Thursday after he and another man tried to return a car to a dealership.

The car had been purchased the previous day with what was later discovered to be a fraudulent check. Bryant was captured after a brief foot chase, while the driver of the car, 51-year-old Donald Ferguson of Marshalltown, led police on a high speed chase before being taken into custody in Boone County.

Police have been looking for Bryant since early April after he allegedly pointed a gun at a TV news crew. At the time, Bryant had recently been charged with false imprisonment, child endangerment, and drug possession. He was accused of holding a 16-year-old boy from California against his will for two weeks at a home in LeGrand.
