The funeral is set for Thursday for an Iowa National Guard airman who died in Gaum. Twenty-year-old Senior Airman Drew Bellairs of Osage drowned while swimming in a cave on Saturday, July 25th.

Bellairs was a member of the Maintenance Group of 185th Air Refueling Wing, in Sioux City and was serving on temporary duty with the 506th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam at the time of his death.

The funeral for Bellairs is set for 10 A.M. Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage. He will be buried at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Drew Bellairs Memorial Fund for the family’s designation to various charities and organizations.

Bellairs graduated from Osage High School in 2013. While in the National Guard he was also a student at Iowa State University, majoring in criminal justice. He is survived by his father and mother, David and Beth Bellairs of Osage; sisters, Jenny Bellairs of Pensacola, Florida. and Natalie Bellairs of Osage; brother, Sam Bellairs of Osage; maternal grandparents, Ray and Marge Huftalin of Osage; and paternal grandmother, Dolores Bellairs of Clarinda. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dale Bellairs.
