pennWilliam Penn looks to build on a thrilling start to the season on Saturday when the Statesmen visit nationally ranked Baker University of Kansas.

Penn opened its first season in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with a win at ninth ranked Missouri Valley and followed that up with a triple-overtime victory against eighth rated Mid-American Nazarene that featured the home fans storming the field at the conclusion.

“It’s super fun for our kids to be a part of”, said William Penn coach Todd Hafner. “This is why they came to play college football. To be part of an atmosphere like we had on Saturday night and just to do something special and make our alumni, make our faculty and everybody proud about what is going on.”

Baker will be their third straight ranked foe to start the season. The 16th ranked Wildcats are 2-0, including a season opening win at sixth ranked Grand View.
