A motorist from Lehigh was killed last night in a two-vehicle accident in rural Webster County. The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as Lyle H. Bartlett, Jr.
The accident happened at the intersection of Webster County Road P-73 and 270th Street northeast of Lehigh. Reportedly a westbound 2011 Toyota pickup driven by Bartlett was stopped at the stop sign when he proceeded into the intersection and was struck by a northbound 2013 Ford pickup truck driven by Jordan Strickland of Fort Dodge.
The Bartlett truck came to rest in the northeast ditch while the Strickland pickup came to rest on the roadway north of the intersection. Bartlett was transported by ambulance to a Fort Dodge hospital where he died of his injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
