A funeral is scheduled for an Army soldier from Iowa who was killed in a traffic crash last week. Sergeant Thomas Packer was stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas and was driving on a highway north of Junction City, Kansas last Thursday when he left the roadway and entered a ditch.
A report from the Kansas Highway Patrol shows Packer’s vehicle went back on the highway but into the path of a semi. The 26-year-old Packer was killed in the crash. His funeral will be held tomorrow morning in Tama.
Packer was a graduate of South Tama High School and he attended Marshalltown Community College before serving two tours in Afghanistan. Packer is survived by his wife and daughter.
