Police car lightsThree football players at a northern Iowa high school have been expelled and are facing charges for attacks on younger players on school grounds. Clarion Police Chief Steve TerHark says the three suspects are each charged with simple assault and hazing.

One of the students is considered an adult because he’s 18-years-old. The other two are juveniles. The three Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School students have been expelled through the end of the school year. TerHark says the older players — two seniors and a junior — would take a freshman player into a locker room at the school, hold him down and assault him with their fingers.

TerHark says the alleged hazing incidents occurred after classes or before football practice. One victim reported an incident about two weeks ago, according to TerHark, and since then five other victims have come forward.
