oscar_mayerThe Kraft Heinz Foods Company has announced plans for a new manufacturing plant in Davenport. The new facility for Davenport is part of a plan by Kraft Heinz to “reduce operational redundancies.”

The newly combined company will close seven manufacturing plants over the next 12 to 24 months across the U.S., including an Oscar Mayer plant in Madison, Wisconsin.

The current Oscar Mayer plant in Davenport will also be shutdown within two years, but production will be moved to a more than $200 million facility to be built on the city’s northwest side.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority Board is scheduled to consider a package of tax incentives for the project this morning. More than 1,200 workers are currently employed at Oscar Mayer in downtown Davenport.
