DOT-thmbThe Iowa Transportation Commission approved a settlement with the city of Le Mars Tuesday for a state grant. The DOT’s Craig Markley talked about the original agreement.

“The city received a grant of $1,937,174 dollars for roadway improvements contingent on the retention of 387 existing jobs and creation of 152 new jobs by Wells Dairy Incorporated within three years of completion,” Markley explains.

He says the number of promised jobs fell short.”The companies associated with this project were only able to retain and create and average of 442 jobs,” Markley says. “Based on the settlement policy, the city has agreed to a repayment of $101,845.” The commission unanimously approved the settlement.
