Ambulance-Back-DoorA northwest Iowa teen has died as the result of an accident near Calumet.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 12:50 P.M. on Sunday, 19-year-old Kaliegh Jones of Cherokee was driving a 2005 Ford southbound on Highway 59, two miles south of Calumet. That’s near the O’Brien and Cherokee County line.

Forty-three-year-old Shannon Manwarren of Primghar was northbound on 59 in a 2014 Ford pickup. The report says that the vehicles collided head-on. Jones died from injuries sustained in the crash. The Cherokee Ambulance took Manwarren to Cherokee Regional hospital. Also injured in the crash were 15-year-old Kyleigh Sanders, and 15-year-old Ashley Portz, both of Primghar. According to the trooper, the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
