Police car lightsA Cedar Rapids police officer is recovering after being assaulted Sunday. Police responded to a domestic disturbance call outside a laundromat around three Sunday afternoon.

The department says an officer was talking with 33-year-old Nathan Brocks when Brocks struck the officer.

The officer was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground, striking his head on a cement parking barrier. The department has not identified the officer, but says he was seriously injured.

Other officers has to use a Taser to arrest Brocks. He is charged with two counts of assault with injury on a peace officer, interference with official acts, assault causing bodily injury domestic abuse, criminal mischief and theft.

Police say additional charges are likely.
