An Iowa Hawkeye was named Big Ten Player of the Week Monday. Junior Peter Jok was honored after his deadly outside shooting helped the Hawkeyes move to 5-0 in the Big Ten with wins over Michigan State and Michigan.

The West Des Moines Valley grad averaged 19.5 points in those games. He shot a blistering 64 percent or seven of eleven from three-point-range, and 58 percent overall.

Jok’s honor is the first time ever the Hawkeyes have had back-to-back players win the weekly award without sharing it with another school, after Mike Gesell was honored last week.

Iowa moved up in the rankings, and is now ranked 9th in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Poll after the wins last week. The number 9 ranking is its highest during the Fran McCaffery era. McCaffery’s 2013-14 squad was ranked as high as 10th on Jan. 20, 2014.
