The Chief Justice of the Iowa Supreme Court has issued an order to continue the business court pilot program.

The program is designed to help business cases move through the court system faster, and the pilot program started taking cases in May of 2013.

There have been 26 cases heard since then. To be considered, both sides must agree to have their case heard by one of three judges assigned to the business court. The cases must have alleged damages of $200,000 or more and be related to business issues, such as licensing agreements, or the internal operations of businesses.

Chief Justice Mark Cady said during his annual condition of the judiciary message to the legislature last month that the business court had been well received and would be continued. The pilot program was set to expire in May.
