The eighth ranked Iowa Hawkeyes control their own destiny as the Big Ten race heads into the stretch run and if the Hawks are able to win it they will have earned it. Iowa faces four difficult games to close the regular season beginning with Wednesday night’s game at home against a Wisconsin team that has won eight of its last nine games.

The Hawkeyes are 11-3 in the Big Ten and have been idle since last Wednesday’s upset loss at Penn State.

“We have had some time to work on some things but these next four games are really all against very good teams”, said Iowa coach Fran McCaffery. “Hopefully we will play a little better than we have recently but I think our defense has to get better.”

Greg Gard took over the Badgers in December following the abrupt retirement of Bo Ryan and while the coach has changed the style of play has not.

“They have not changed that much. They are still doing what they have always done and it is a winning formula.”

Iowa is 20-6 overall. Tip off in Carver-Hawkeye Arena is 8:00 p.m.
