ighsau-logo-300Turkey Valley is headed to the championship game for the first time. The top ranked Trojans used a 12-2 run early in the third quarter to take command in a 79-67 victory over fourth ranked Burlington Notre Dame in a class 1A semifinal round game.

“It’s crazy”, said Turkey Valley junior guard Morgan Kuennen, who had a season high 23 points. “Since third grade we have been wishing we were here and it is finally coming true.”

Turkey Valley Trailed 32-31 at halftime and Kuennen says the Nikes made some defensive adjustments.

“The coaches said our defense was not working very well the first half and we needed to step it up.”

Senior guard Riley Kilbride led Notre Dame with 18 points. The Nikes hurt their own cause by committing 26 turnovers.

“They were just more physical than us”, said Kilbride. “They worked our defense and we got tired and made too many mental mistakes.”

Turkey Valley takes a 26-0 record into Friday night’s 1A title contest.
