IDEDA pair of projects in northeast and northwest Iowa were awarded Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grants Wednesday.

The Vision Iowa Board agreed to provide the city of Sheldon with $840,000 to help finance the construction of a more than $5 million events center. The 14,200 square foot facility will hold up to 750 people and could be divided into three separate rooms.

Another CAT grant of $100,000 was awarded to the city of Independence to help build a $4.2 million dollar aquatic center.
