Iowa logoIowa will have four wrestlers in tonight’s semifinals at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in New York. The Hawkeyes had five competing in today’s quarterfinals and came away with four wins. Sammy Brooks, seeded number two at 184, was upset by Nebraska’s T.J. Dudley.

Iowa’s semifinalists are Thomas Gilman (125), Cory Clark (133), Brandon Sorenson (149), and Nathan Burak (197). The Hawkeyes moved into third place in the team standings with 48.5 points.

Penn State leads the field with 68.5. Defending champions Ohio State have 54.

Iowa State will have Lelund Weatherspoon in the semifinals at 174. Three other Cyclones lost their quarterfinal round matches.

Northern Iowa has one wrestler left in the tournament. Dylan Peters is in the consolation bracket at 125, after losing in the quarterfinals to defending champion Nathan Tomasello of Ohio State.
