Police-lights-300x192The search for a 23-year-old Dayton man resumed this morning after volunteers spent much of Sunday trying to find him.

The Webster County Law Enforcement Center in Fort Dodge received a 911 call shortly before six Sunday morning of a man in the Des Moines River at Lehigh. It was reported that the male was in the river swimming and began to struggle when witnesses lost sight of the male. The name of the man is not being released at this time at the request of the family.

A search was done on foot, by air and by boat with sonar for 10 miles. The Story County Dive Team was unable to enter the water. Webster County Emergency Management Coordinator Scott Forbes said both the river and flow rate is high. Volunteers, responders and agencies are asked to report to the Lehigh fire station to be assigned a search area.
