Crime Scene TapeState investigators have released the name of a man shot and killed by Boone police Monday.

A news release from the Department of Criminal Investigation says the man is 28-year-old Michael Disbrowe. Officers were called to a home in Boone at 10:15 Monday on the report of a man threatening people with a gun.

The DCI also identified the officers involved, saying Boone Sergeant Nathan Kester, a 14-year veteran, and officer Joseph Slight, who has been on the job one year, fired at Disbrowe after he aimed a gun at them and ignored repeated orders to drop the gun.

An autopsy was completed by the State Medical Examiner, but the final results will not be available for four to six weeks. No other information has been given as to what led Disbrowe to threaten others with the gun and then confront police. The officers are on leave pending the completion of the investigation.
