vote-002Marshalltown voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly approved plans to build a 17.5-million dollar combination police and fire station south of downtown.

City officials credit the work of a citizens committee which worked to keep the process transparent and to get facts to people in order to make an informed decision at the voting booth. A turnout of nearly 35 hundred votes in a four precinct special election represented nearly 21 and a half percent of the total registered electorate in Marshall County.

Both the present police and fire stations are in antiquated condition.
