A former assistant county attorney and Marshalltown school board member Ben Stansberry has been arrested.

Captain Brian Batterson, with the Marshalltown Police Department, says Stansberry was arrested on charges of trespass and fifth-degree theft on Monday.

The original incident date is Monday, August 22nd. According to Marshall County Attorney Jennifer Miller, he was placed on administrative leave on Tuesday the 23rd and stepped down from his job as assistant county attorney last Friday.

The arrest took place in the area of his home. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Laura Roan, according to Iowa on-line court records.
